I am going to be a little bit more vulnerable in this week’s blog. I was reading part 6 of the Master Key and loving what I was reading but my within was at war. Half of me was loving what I was learning (I love learning this kind of stuff) but the other half was spewing out negative thoughts (self-pity) I’ve tried to bury for years and years; “you are a very slow learner and you are not going to get this, it will be like all the other times, it will just be another thing you did” “everyone else will succeed except you.” “it’s too late for you in this stage in life.” Slowly and quietly these thoughts were oozing out. I haven’t consciously thought about these thoughts for a long time. I think I buried self-pity with doing and performing. I am good at performing and I guess that’s where I got my value and significance from. My within is definitely at war and I am fighting. I am doing the requirements and trying to read the blueprint, my DMP, service card ad the giving card with enthusiasm every day even though I do not feel like it. I know that the clay is slowly coming off as my unique and the best version of me is trying to come out. It’s been uncomfortable and difficult in the last few weeks but I choose to trust the MKE process and God who has my back.
Week 5
I woke up this morning and did my quiet sitting for 15 minutes trying to picture my happy place. It was difficult and I couldn’t wait until the 15 minutes were done. Usually, 15 minutes every day is a welcome time for me but not today. Is my old blueprint trying to come back with a vengeance? I know that I can choose to think different things so that my emotions can align with it but today was definitely a battle. So……I want to end this blog for now with my memory of my yesterday’s 15 minutes. I had visualized the times when I lived in California. In one picture, I was at the Santa Monica Pier. I felt the warm breeze brushing by my dewy face, the hot sun hugging my body, salty smell of the ocean, the sounds of people talking and laughing, the waves going in and out and the vastness of the blue ocean. I really love blue, it’s a peaceful color. I had no other thoughts except, this feels so so good. No worries, just soaking the goodness of the moment. Then, I remembered our old apartment on Bresse Street. I remembered a time after church when friends gathered at our place for lunch. I didn’t particularly remember the food, probably was Chinese food but and we were all there eating, laughing and talking about how we had experienced God loving on people through our prayers. Those were the carefree days. It was nice to picture myself there. I choose to remember those good memories and those good feelings.
Week 4
Wow, I am in awe of how our brain works and how powerful I am. I actually have the power to create a new identity by modifying my behavior. I can rewire and reconnect my brain and change things from the inside out.
Week 3 – Part 1
This week I am trying to focus on the business part of my DMP especially in regards to sacrifice. What do I want to overcome? What do I want to give up? I am having a mini panic attack. I feel my chest getting little tighter. I feel fear poking its ugly head out of hiding. It’s causing confusion and hopelessness. Wow, I didn’t know it was this big. I am trying not to be negative but I feel paralyzed. In analogy to the golden Buddha, I hit the part of the Buddha where the cement is really hard and thick. I need to continue to chip at it, no matter how hard it is, no matter how much pain it causes and no matter how long it takes. I will overcome. I am an overcomer.
Week 2 – Part 2
I have been practicing sitting 15 minutes completely still and it was not very difficult. Now I am adding on “inhibit all thought”. Wow, so many thoughts and in so many directions. I was trying to capture those thoughts and boy was it difficult. But it’s ok because I am going to keep practicing and I will master controlling my thoughts.
Week 2 – Part 1
MKE is a lot of work but I have decided that I am worth the 6 months investment. I am revising my DMP and it’s really making me think about what I really want especially when I have to pick the just the right words, make it concise, think about the feelings associated with each want and getting a picture in my mind. I can feel something happening inside of me, it feels right and I am hopeful. Loving the experience thus far.
Week 1 – Part 2
Can I really do this? I am reading about Edwin C. Barnes and other great people and I am wondering, “do I have what it takes?” I am scared to find that I do not have what it takes. I know that reading about these famous people are to be inspiring and are to fill us with hope and courage but I am wondering if I can. There are only a few of them and so many who are not. Maybe I am part of the “so many” and yet deep inside I want to be the part of the few. I have read about these courageous and special people many times before and was inspired but only for a moment and I then I went on with life. Will this time be different? I know I am being pessimistic but I am trying to be real and vulnerable so that I can change.
Week 1 – Part 1
A Little bit overwhelmed. Trying to figure out if I am doing this right and if I am getting what I need to do done. I am trying not to be a perfectionist and believe that it is all about learning in the process. I have been unusually tired but at the same time, unusual things came up this week. I am hoping that as I continue with MKE, I will live life liking myself and being confident of who I am and having peace and joy in all circumstances.
